A Few Of My Favorite Things!!!!

I have been playing along with Julie Tucker-Wolek's challenge blog for
about a year now.
Sometimes posting, sometimes not quite making the deadline....but always playing and loving the challenges.  When she put out a DT call for Fave things, I knew that I needed to apply.  I LOVE the challenges...the inspiration...and most of all...the fact that it gives me a prompt when I am all "Prompted" out!!!!!   Basically...the site will keep a girl scrapping!  LOVE IT!!!!!

Well...Julie asked me to join the team!!!
And What an AMAZING team it is!!!!  24 ladies!!!  yep....TWENTY FOUR!!!!
We are split into 2 groups...
group #1 will post on the 15th of every month (that includes me)
and group  #2 will post on the 30th of each month.

If you have never been to AFOMFT (A Few of My Favorite Things),
Then you are missing out!  Go check it out!!!

Basically, Julie issues a prompt and we have to scrap about it!
Your Fave Quote is going on right now!!!
Others include Fave scrapper
Fave celebrity...and more!
You will love what she has us scrapping about for 2011!!! (wink-wink)

I am so excited!!!  Now I will get to play with some of my "Old Stash"
that sits begging to be payed attention to!  LOL

Cool Kid :)

I got to work on a layout last night for a little bit.  NOT LONG...since I have like....oh....FIVE kids!  It was for Liz Qualman's Sketch on the Little Yellow Bicycle Blog.  It is a great sketch...and it was so fun to work with!  I used LYB Generation Z for the majority of it...and I tossed in a tad bit of "Lucky Me" and "Boardwalk" for good measure.  :)  Here is Liz's original sketch...

I loved that it had space for 3 photos!  I thought about using 3 different photos from my son's birthday party, but then I came across this photograph of Dayne...shades pulled down..him looking "Cool".  I could not resist using this one!~  I think I got exactly the impact I wanted by using it 3 times on the page...makes me think of Sylvester Stallone....or Robert Dinero.... "You talkin' ta me?"  LOL

I used my new handy dandy I-top to create a few brads for the layout using the Boardwalk collection, and I even used a bit of Tattered Angels Mists...which I RARELY do.  LOL.  I just thought the splatters were the perfect finishing touch to this BOY page.  Since boys are all about splatters and splats!  LOL

I think I really like the end result...spatters, splats and all! Thanks for looking...have a FANTABULOUS weekend!

We Interrupt the regularly scheduled programming....

to say........

I AM A CLIP~IT~UP girl!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so excited!

I got a phone call from Renee herself last night as I was
taking Aubrie and Skye to cheer practice.
I did not even look at the number to see who was calling...
I just expected it to be Joe letting me know he had made it home.
MUCH TO MY SURPRISE!!!!
It was Renee inviting me to join the Clip~It~Up team!!!!!
I was thrilled!!!
We chatted for a few minutes..and she sounds soooooo nice!
When we hung up, I shrieked and did a little jig in the parking lot.
I am excited.  Just sayin'!!!!

Ok...now you may scroll down to the regularly scheduled post for the day
involving my OLDEST and his annoying habbit
of waiting till the last minute!!!!
LOL

POP QUIZ....

What do you do...
when your 14  year old comes to you at 9 pm
and says:

"Mom, can you help me?
I need a composition book for Science. But...see...
the thing is, it needs to be decorated...all Science like."

"ok...I can help you...I will pick one up tomorrow.
  When do you need it?"

"Um.  Tomorrow."

!?!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!!?!?!
   DO you.....

A.  THROTTLE THE KID
B. Scream at him for JUST NOW mentioning it
C.  Do it for him and gripe him out...sending him
to bed because that is where he SHOULD be.
D.  ALL OF THE ABOVE

?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!!!!?!?!??

Correct answer...ALL OF THE ABOVE!!!!

So...I pulled out my Bella Blvd Stash...knowing EXACTLY what line I needed for this project.
MIDTERM.
I set to work...not wanting to do anything fancy because
1.) He is a BOY
2.) HE is supposed to be doing it

I set to work...measuring, cutting, and gluing down.
I used Mod Podge and covered the entire cover...it helps to seal in
those sticker edges...and keep them from coming up over time.
In the end...I ended up with a simple composition book, not TOO fancy,
worthy of a 14 year old boy...AND I was pleased with the results.

To answer the question that I know some of you are thinking...

NO. I am NOT one of those Mom's who does my kid's homework.
NO.  I do not ever do his homework for him.
AND NO...the decorating part was NOT homework.
It was extra credit...the REQUIRED part was the notebook.
I did it because OBVIOUSLY...
the kid need all the help he can get! LOLOL
UGH!!!!  TEENAGERS!

Anyway...I enjoyed the end result...and it was worthy of a BIG hug and kiss
on the way out the door...so ...it was worth it to me!

Thanks for looking!  Have a FANTABULOUS day!!!!

PS!!!!  Don't forget to check below to see if you are my winner...you have 6 more days to respond!

Monday Monday!

Well, today is a school holiday, and I have my 5 kids plus 2 extra teenage boys over playing the game and being just generally NORMAL KIDS! AGH!   LOUD is not even the word for what these kids are being! At least it is a fun, laughing, playful kind of  loud!

I did manage to get a layout done, though. And I have to say...I am kind of in love with it! LOL. I did it using the Prima January Build~A~Page sketch on the Blog.   I also am using it for my favorite quote layout over at A Few of My Favorite Things blog.
I also am using for one of the regular challenges at Back Porch Memories...Alissa's "Out with eh Old and IN with the New".

This is my daughter, Skye, and my nephew, Hunter. In this photo, they are both VERY FOUR! (years old that is!)  They are feeding the ducks in the pond and I swear, the magic that they saw that day was a magic that only they could see. I truly wish I could have seen what they saw, felt what they felt, and giggled like they did! Oh to be a kid again!! I used the quote....

"There are not 7 wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are 7 Million." ~Walt Streightiff

Now, keep in mind that I live in TEXAS. NOT MUCH SNOW in TEXAS...so this kit presented a bit of a challenge to me. But that is the fun of designing, isn't it??

The challenge...to stretch your mind and think OUTSIDE of the box? So, while I was able to capture a few snowy layouts...they did not actually ALL include SNOW....Take a look.....

**Used the sketch from Artful Delight for this one:

And here are 5 random facts about me...just in case you were wondering...LOL

1. My favorite color is purple...which is why I chose the Michaelmas daisy for my blog

2. When I take kiddos to school in the mornings, I wear my Pajamas...so...IF I ever get pulled over...Lord help that police officer! LOL

Extreme Make-Over.....Blog Edition

How do you like my blog..."Extreme Make-Over Edition"?? I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!
Kristine Davidson had a little give-away on her blog and I won..and the Prize was a Blog Make-over! I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!! Kristine is the Blog Make-Over QUEEN I tell ya! Did you notice the pic of my kids up top? How about all of the little buttons and flowers and butterflies? Ok...so what about my SIGNATURE!!!??? How cool is THAT!!?? I am in bloggy heaven right now~!
If there is one thing that I want people to know about me...it is that I am FIRST and FOREMOST a Mom. Mommy of 5 Kidz to be exact!!!! Everything I do....everything I am....and everything I hope to be is all because of my kids. And Kristine captured that about me. She asked what I wanted, what requirements did I have..etc. I told her to just surprise me. I was not picky...nor was I emotionally attached to anything on my old blog...except my kids! LOL.
She did a MAGNIFICENT job of capturing my essence and putting it into digital~bloggyness! LOL
THANK YOU SO MUCH, KRISTINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK...and while I am blogging...how about a tiny sneak of one of my layouts from the
January Wintertime kit from Scrapbook Daisies?

"2 Go" Games Tin.....

Well, I am just thrilled with the way this next project came together. I did the blog hop over at the Imaginisce blog last week, and it was geared around altering an item that you can find AT HOME. Meaning...don't go out and buy anything! The DT came up with some fabulous ideas that resulted in fabulous projects! Pinky challenged us all to participate by not only hopping, but by creating our OWN altered project. I did! I played along!

I have had this tin for a LONG time. I mean a LONG LONG time. It obviously had Girl Scout Cookies in it...and me, being the "creative" person I am, I just knew that I would do something with it...some day. Well...That some day was TODAY!

I pulled out my "Twitterpated", "Scooter's Vacation", and even a tiny bit of the "Cottage Christmas" line...and I set to work. I even put my new Handy Dandy I-Top to work for this project!
Now, keep in mind, I am "purpose" driven. I am not the kind of person that has time, money, or desire, to do things pointlessly. It is not in my nature. SO...when planning my project, I also had to plan what FUNCTION my project would serve. Well...It smacked me in the head like a ton of bricks when I least expected it! Travel Games!!!! The kids DO play travel games when we go on long trips. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....THIS was the result of that cute little cookie tin:

I covered it all in the Twitterpated collection. It is so bright and vibrant and happy! Notice the I-Top pieces on the side? Well, those are magnets! They are Removable....for THIS:
A Tick Tack Toe board....and it is magnetic! How cool is that! NO LOSING THE PIECES in the Car!!!!!

And, here is the full view of the inside. It is a Tick Tack Toe board on one side, and the other side holds Yahtzee. I printed off the travel sized score sheets, tossed in 5 dice, and voila! All they have to do is roll the dice INSIDE the tin and those will not get lost either. Am I genius or what????
(DON'T ANSWER THAT!) LOL

I also printed off some word searches, mazes, and other travel sized things to store inside that little tin. The best part, it is REFILLABLE! ALL of the things can be found on the internet!
Oh yeah...and I even made some cute little matching pens to stick in there, too!

When I was all finished, I called the kids to come take a look. They LOVED it. Mostly the girls, though...for obvious reasons.
Dayne says to me.."Mom, that is AWESOME! Will you make me one that is not...so....Girly?" LOL..Bless his heart!
So, now I am on a mission to find someone else who saved one of these tins! Or even something similar. I think I will use the Dino Roar collection for that one!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a Fantastic Day!

Back to Routine....

Well, the kids went back to school today...Joe went back to work yesterday, and we all went back to our "Regularly Scheduled Lives."

Tamon came into mine and Joe's room this morning and woke Joe up saying, "Hey Dad, it is 5 o'clock."
Joe responded with, "Yeah, so?" (his alarm doesn't go off till 5:30)
Tamon says, "Well, just wanted you to know. I am going to go now."

He walks away...down the hall ..... and out the front door. He is going to catch his bus.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????????????????

I nudged Joe. "Hey...did he say he was going now?"
Joe says, "Yeah...so?"
"Joe, It is FIVE O'CLOCK! His bus doesn't run until 10 minutes after SIX!"
Joe laughed..."He'll figure it out"
"What! No! Go get him! He will be out there for over an hour!"
Joe laughed again... "He is just excited Mom. You didn't do the 'dry run' with them this year...he figured he would make up for it."
I burst out laughing. Refer to THIS POST to see what he was referring to.

>>>>He DID go get Tamon...who felt a little silly...but was thankful for an extra hour to EAT MORE BREAKFAST!!!!! Boys...I tell ya!

SO, at SIX O'clock, I told him...okay...you can go out to catch the bus now. He smiled. :)
Then Aubrie AND Dayne walk down the hallway. Both of them already dressed. !!!??? I don't usually get them up till 6:20, but ok. This works for me. No arguing on the first day back. How cool is that!!?? They ate, brushed teeth, and put on shoes before I would have normally gotten them out of bed. Chance and Skye on the other hand, had to be poked and prodded to get out of bed. Once up though, they were both all smiles and ready for the first day back. All in all, a good morning!

Oh...I captured this adorable photo...Skye with her "Bed Head" in all it's Glory this morning!

I now have to go and get back to MY regularly scheduled life. Basketball starts tonight...and me being a Director...I have a LOT of prep work for it. OH YEA. FUN. FUN. FUN. NOT!!!!

I hope you all have a fantastic day today!!!!

My Faves for 2010

Last year, I did a recount of my favorite layout by month. THIS year...and am just going to do a random group of favorites. You can certainly see a difference in the ones from the beginning of this year versus the ones from the end. I love each of these layouts for one reason or another...and each one is unique. There is no #1...etc. I did not put them into any certain order...I just posted my top favorites. It is not easy to narrow it down to a specific #...so I will not even try. I hope you enjoy these layouts like I do.....

Last year, 2009, I had a goal of 20 layouts per month and I completed 250. In 2010, I realized it was REALLY HARD to succeed that way, and the quality of my layouts did decrease when I was trying to PUSH myself to make my goal.

In 2010, I decided to drop that # to 12 and anything beyond that would be a "BONUS" Well, I achieved that goal far easier than I did the previous, and my work quality DID increase. I completed 170 layouts and even more projects and cards.

This year, I will maintain my goal of 12 layouts per month, and all else will be bonus. I was pretty happy with the results from last year, so....why mess with a good thing?? LOL

OH YEAH..........
And if you are interested in seeing my #1 layout for 2010, I posted it HERE. It is not glamorous, gorgeous, or even extravagant. It is simply a message that I conveyed successfully through my hobby that we lovingly refer to as "Scrapbooking".

Thanks for taking a peek today! I am sooooooooooo ready to create more for 2011!

How about you....did you do a top faves of 2010? What is your goal for this year?
