Fotos on Friday!!
So many times, we get into this state of mind that our subject has to be LOOKING at the camera for it to be a GOOD photo. This is so very MUCH not true. Some of the most captivating photos that I have ever seen are NOT of a subject's face...but rather their back, or their hands or even their feet. The old adage "A picture is worth a thousand words" is so very true...no matter what angle the photo is shot in.
Below, I have a few photos of the mini photo shoot that I did recently with my son and my nephew. They are both VERY country~fied little boys, very T-shirt and blue jeans, and they are best friends. I wanted to capture these things in photos, but I knew that these things were going to be lost with just a few "head-shots". Instead, I captured them in different angles, with their backs to me as if they were looking out over the country side. I took one of my son in his "Thinking Position" as he calls it with his head bowed and the hat covering his face...and I took one of their feet...to show the true nature of these 2 boys in ratty old blue jeans and worn out tennis shoes.
Yes, I took some of their faces also..but these photos were so much more captivating to me than the plain old "head-shot"
So...my challenge to you is...."Off with their Heads!" (or faces anyway!)
When you take your next photo, leave out the faces. Capture the essence without putting a face on it. Have fun with your camera and your subject...You will be GLAD that you did!!

Simply Obsessed May Reval!!
Hi there everyone!! I have to say, when I got my Simply Obsessed May kit in the mail on Friday, my mouth dropped in AWE of all of the gorgeous elements!!! This kit features the Crate Paper 'Pink Plum' collection...and it is flippin' AWESOME!!!
Here is "Isn't she Lovely". This is my husband's Grandmother when she was graduating. I used the lacy ribbon from the add-ons to create the larger vintage lace flowers to match the smaller one that comes in the kit. I also did a bit of vintage corset style lacing for added dimension and to add to the vintag~y feel of this layout. The thickers did not come in the kit...they are from my own stash.
Here is "delight". I wanted to create a different look with the elements...something more playful and airy...which is not my norm at all...but I do like how it turned out. I used bubble wrap and turquoise paint to create the splashy look in the background and the water droplets. I also fussy cut the orange paper to create the look of swirling waves.
And here is "Precious" This is my friend when she was a baby...this is going to be a gift for her Mom for Mother's Day. This was inspired by Ronda Simpson's sketch. It is a bit different, but still maintains the basics. Thanks for the inspiration, Ronda! I did get all of the add-ons, which included all of the chipboard elements that you see here...and the thickers are from my own stash.
Thank you all for checking out my creations. This kit is AWESOME...go check it out at Simply Obsessed!

I have been MIA....
But with good reason....below are a few photos of WHY I have been MIA. I will spare you all the yucky boring details...and will just say...the last week was not easy! LOL.
Here is Skye's foot.
And here is Dayne. This is Poison Oak...and it got worse before it got better...trust me. This is a GOOD photo...this poor baby was miserable! Yes, his eye is swollen, and the infection spread all over the side of his face and neck, up both arms, stomach, back and inner thighs. NOT FUN!!! I am happy to say...he has been TWO WHOLE DAY ITCH FREE!!!!! YAYAYAYAY~!!!!
BUT....I have been scrappy! Late nights with miserable kiddos DO make for productive crafty hours!!
I can't share it all, but I will share this....
I did not realize that I had not shared my reveal from SD4U!!!! I guess the holiday weekend and all of the mishaps had me in a whirl wind! LOL
I made these using the "Green at Heart" kit featuring Basic Grey...It is such a bright and FUN~FUN~FUN kit I love all of the colors and the super cute little animals!! Check it out...
I have a bit more...but will wait until I introduce it on the 15th to the board! HA!

April {SAS}sy Reveal!!
Hi everyone! I am SUPER excited to share my reveal with you all this month from Scrap Attack! Lauri sent me an arrangement of MAGNIFICENT supplies...including the Scrap Within Reach Urban Garden Collection!
I also had some gorgeous Prima papers, swirls and flowers along with a few other bits and pieces of perfectly coordinating papers!! I was truly in scrappy heaven as I was creating this month!
Let me just tell you.....This stuff is flippin' GORGEOUS! I would never have thought it was this awesome just by the online photo.
Here is "Dayne". I tried to achieve a look of rustic cowboy...complete with the name on the "belt buckle" that I created. I altered the coloring of my photos to a deeper sepia tone to compliment well with the colors of these papers. I loved the effect it created
"You Are a Star" is my son during his 1st grade performance. He was playing Kenny Chesney all the way down to singing one of his songs! I thought he was stinkin' cute...and I wanted a "center stage" effect. This page by Prima gave me just that opportunity! It reminded of curtains at first, but the more I played, the more I saw my son on stage! I punched the stars and outlined them with 3-d fabric paint for them to pop better...and they are all raised up off of the page by the pleats in the "curtain".
"Live Love {in the moment}" is about the bond between my youngest DD an my hubby. They are always together....ALWAYS. I immediately thought of these photos from vacation last year when I saw the gorgeous colors in my kit! I did alter the bright colors to once again compliment the softer colors...and I so love the effect!
"Six Flags" is about the ONE and only time we got to take the kids to Astroworld in Houston before it closed. Hubby and I both grew up going to that theme park, and have a lot of memories of it...and unfortunately, our children only have this one. I wanted to create a feeling of nostalgia with the muted colors and soft elements...and still maintain the theme park feel...so I added in the flags and muted the colors of the photo...and I think it did the trick.
"Garden" is just that...my daughter in the middle of her Great Grandmother's flower garden! She had actually stopped hunting for eggs and started sniffing the flowers!! LOL I tried to create a magical effect with wisteria vines hanging and lots of stickles in this one!
And "Having Fun" is my oldest DD doing JUST THAT! Her favorite thing to do in the summer is stay in the pool! There is no opportunity to get photos of this chick in actual CLOTHES during the summer months! LOL. Lauri's sketch worked perfectly with this paper, and the photo worked perfect with the colors! A match made in heaven!
Thanks for looking! I absolutely LOVED everything this month...and I know you will too! head on over the the Scrap Attack Scrapbooking Online Store and grab some of these for yourself!!

Simply Obsessed April Reveal!!!
Good Morning Everyone! I just wanted to tell you...it is a BEAUTIFUL Day here in Texas!!
I am going to share my creations with you using the April Obsession from Simply Obsessed... featuring the October Afternoon's Thrift Shop Collection. I was able to create 3 layouts and a card...and I still have plenty left to whip out another couple of cards or layouts!
First, I was inspired by the blue hues and wanted to do a "beachy" layout...so I did "REMEMBER". This is from our trip to the beach last spring. We had such a good time...and I want them to remember how great it was. Remember the old saying "Tie a string around your finger so you won't forget."...? Well, I did just that! I tied a length of that fabulous baker's twine around that hand with the finger pointing and pop dotted the hand up off of the page. I also used Diamond Glaze to create water droplets on the surface of the layout.
"Treasures of the Heart" was inspired by my daughter's daily gifts of tiny treasures to me. I am sure you all know exactly what I am talking about! The tiniest flowers that she can find, sometimes they are actually weeds...and every now and then, she will bring me a rock because it was "Beautiful". I love that she does this...and I wanted to remember it. The flowers stems are cut from my cricut and the flowers themselves are all hand created using various scraps from the papers in the kit. I created the ruffled lace using plain white cardstock and the MS apron punch. I pleated it and attached it all with dry adhesive, then hand stitched it to the page for security.
"ADORE" is a bit out of the norm for this kit I think. I wanted to do something that was a little different than the "vintagy" look. I used the clear butterfly overlay as my inspiration to create this layout. I used a quote that I love..."There are only two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings". The butterflies and "ADORE" are cut with my cricut using paper from the kit.
And finally, I have a card. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the prints on the papers in this kit!!! I kept having fleeting images of my childhood favorite dresses, and of Shirley Temple!!! I could not resist the temptation to make this. The apron will lift up to reveal my inside message....which I have not created yet...because I have NO IDEA who will receive this card! LOL. I may even turn it into a mini...who knows!!
Thank you all for taking time to check out my Reveal! I had SOOOOOO much fun creating with this kit! I know you will to....and I am pretty sure there are still a few left in the Simply Obsessed store if you want to hop on over and order yours now!

LOOOOONG Day...and a WINNER!
Well, I normally do not take part in random jokes or pranks on April Fool's Day, and today was no exception...But the DAY had a joke for me!!! I had a very long list of things I needed to accomplish today, and as the day unfolded, I realized that my "TO~DO" list was NOT going to happen...No Fooling.
Why, you ask...well, the morning started great...kiddos out of bed..CHECK. Kiddos to school on time...CHECK. Photograph a few layouts for reveals...CHECK...E-mail photos to Skye's teacher for the year book...CHECK...Post said reveals...HALF CHECK...My internet went out in the middle of the 2nd one. While I HATE that my small town is rapidly growing into a city...I equally hate the small town internet service!!!
SO....proceeded with the day in hopes of doing the reveal a little later. Well, ran some errands, sent some texts and made a few return calls about cakes...and then picked Sky up at school. Somewhere between lunch and nap, she decides to play in the sand pile...totally cool with that, I am trying to get my reveal done since the internet is back on. Unfortunately, before I got it posted...she come in the house bleeding from her foot. She had decided to get a shovel from her Daddy's truck **with him watching by the way*** and go play in the sand with that instead of the plastic shovels. Well, she dropped the shovel right on the top of her foot and it split it wide open. There goes the rest of my day! Had to clean her up, calm her down and put her into the truck to go to the minor ER. A few hours and $125 later, they decided that the stitches weren't pertinent, and went ahead with glue and a butterfly bandage. I finally got home around 8 pm, fixed dinner, sent a couple of kiddos off to spend the night with friends since they are out of school tomorrow, bathed the kid who can not get her foot wet, put them all in bed, and sooooo want to collapse but still have things to do! AAAGGHHH!!! LOLOL.
Good news is...I drew a winner!! Thank you all for your sweet comments about my son and his accomplishment! It was certainly a proud moment for both him and myself.
After putting everyone's name once and those of you who became a follower three times...I had my husband draw a name, and that name was......................................................................................................PEGGY!
Peggy, get me your address and I will send you a little pack of goodies!!!
